Job Summary 

The Road Home seeks employees that have a deep commitment to the mission of serving adults and families that are experiencing homelessness.   

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Crisis Services, the Division Director of Singles Crisis Services will have a strong focus on internal responsibilities with some external facing responsibilities, ranging from client and system development. This oversight will include programming best practices based on facility population, an understanding and tracking of key metrics, as well as a comprehensive understanding of budgets and monthly spending. The Division Director of Singles Crisis Services will partner closely with the Deputy Director of Crisis Services to implement shelter programming growth and strategic response to an ever-increasing demand for the emergency shelter services for single individuals. 

The Division Director of Singles Crisis Services provides operational support to shelter directors at the Pamela Atkinson Resource Center, Gail Miller Resource Center, Medically Vulnerable Populations Hotel, and St. Vincent de Paul Winter Overflow. This role is instrumental in working with each team to provide services on-site that align with national best practice, specifically around housing focused and high access shelter, and the agency mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  1. Partner with the Deputy Director of Crisis Services in essential internal shelter leadership activities (human resources, administration, and organizational planning). 
  2. Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities. 
  3. Mentoring, coaching; visible, approachable sounding board/resource to shelter directors including up to 6 hours per week on-site at each program. 
  4. Assist each emergency shelter program in meeting internal strategic goals and external goal set by funders. 
  5. High level of oversight on monthly/quarterly/yearly system performance measures guided by state mandates and funding requirements. 
  6.  Mid-level participation in community planning including being up to date on national guidance. 
  7. Participating in budget planning and ensuring that each emergency shelter program spends applicable funding sources appropriately. 
  8. Other duties as assigned. 

Education and Experience 

  1. High degree of commitment, authenticity and integrity.    
  2. Proven leadership and management skills in a complex and dynamic human services environment.  
  3. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in Social Work or other related field is highly desired; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in Social Work or other related field in combination with eight years of work experience in social services with the desire to pursue higher education.   
  4. Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is a bonus.  
  5. At least 8 years of direct supervisory experience.    
  6. Expert knowledge of family assistance and homeless populations  
  7. Provide evidence of continued professional development and experience associated with current trends in trauma-informed care, recovery principles and standards of care, and strengths-based case management.  

Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities  

  1. Model trauma-informed leadership in all interactions with staff and guests. 
  2. Provide clear, constructive feedback to staff regularly, fostering growth and accountability. 
  3. Hire, train, mentor, and support team members through hands-on guidance and resource sharing.  
  4. Delegate tasks effectively while ensuring equitable distribution of workload. 
  5. Resolve conflicts promptly and professionally, using de-escalation techniques and leading difficult conversations with kindness and directness.  
  6. Uphold agency policies consistently and lead by example. 
  7. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with employees to exchange feedback, actively listen, and address professional development needs. 
  8. Develop and implement performance improvement plans and other corrective actions when needed, with measurable goals, equipping staff with the tools and guidance to achieve success. 
  9. Collaborate cross-departmentally to align team goals with organizational mission. 
  10. Monitor and ensure completion of all mandatory trainings, while maintaining accurate participation records. 
  11. Track and report on team performance metrics (attendance, outcomes, etc.), as needed. 
  12. Perform employee evaluations as scheduled, offering actionable feedback and tailored support. 
  13. Advocate for staff needs while balancing operational priorities.

  8. Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse populations. Ability to contribute to the agency’s commitment to enhancing awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.  
  9. Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

  • Ability to lift 15 pounds.  
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for at least an hour at a time.
