JOB SUMMARY
The Road Home seeks a highly motivated individual who is committed, compassionate, willing to be challenged, and who wants to make a difference in the lives of others. We, at The Road Home, believe that the people we serve deserve our best every day. This Housing Advocate will be located at The Road Home’s Family Interim Non-Congregate Housing (FINCH) crisis services and shelter program, serving up to 85 families daily. They will provide high-quality services to individuals seeking shelter at FINCH. This position will work as part of a cohesive team of Housing Advocates to ensure a safe, supportive, trauma-informed environment.

JOB DUTIES
You Will:
- Provide quality customer service to our guests, who may be in need of resources in addition to a warm bed for the night.
- Monitor and help regulate activities at the Resource Center, ensuring rules and procedures are followed by both staff and guests.
- Provide clear and specific information and instruct guests of Resource Center rules/procedures in a kind, compassionate, and trauma-informed way.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe facility, identifying special needs and referring needs to supervisor.
- Assist in resolving conflicts that may arise among guests.
- Delegate tasks in a fair manner to ensure needs of facility are met. This can include Incident Reports; rounds and tracking; daily counts; intake support and other duties as necessary.
- Write incident reports where appropriate, maintain records of guest stays, and maintain accurate shelter documentation.
- Answer phones, take messages and respond to the public.
- Provide occasional crisis intervention and emergency interface with community resources such as EMS and law enforcement.
- Provide assistance and support to the Shift Supervisor and act as lead staff in the absence of the Supervisor.
- Operate as part of a team that strives to serve the homeless in our community.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
- Excellent writing and documentation skills.
- Willing to be a proactive member of a team.
- Ability to work from a Trauma-Informed Care framework.
- Familiarity with the Housing First philosophy.
- Ability to work with community partners.

- Ability to accept direction from Supervisor.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong computer skills.
- Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse populations. Ability to contribute to the agency’s commitment to enhancing awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Physical and Equipment Requirements
- Must be able to stand, sit and walk for at least an hour at a time.
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
